About the Product
Since before the United States was a nation, dream catchers were fashioned by Native American peoples to ward off nightmares and promote pleasant dreams. They hang over beds and in windows. They come in many shapes. The webbing, which is meant to mimic a spider trap, also varies in design. The dream catcher here is nicknamed “Shadowcasted.” It’s medium in size, with a single web, in all black. Its design originates with the legend of Iktomi, popular Lakota (Sioux) Indian tale in the Black Hills of South Dakota (USA). It was woven by an artisan who’s not unlike Eyota, whom Raisa and companions meet in Destination Spearfish. With your purchase here, you support an ancient artform and those who practice it. Just like Raisa receives a dream catcher at the end of the excursion book, so too can the special child in your life!
Artisan Background
Dream catchers are produced by weavers and decorators in the North American nation of USA and on sovereign Native American reservations. They are generally fabricated from natural materials found in the region. They utilize simple tools. They are finished in a variety of ways, often with seeds, beads, stones, leather, and bird feathers. Under reasonable care, these dream catchers are heirloom quality and can be handed down from generation to generation. Commissioned or purchased fair trade. Resold responsibly.
Care and Cleaning:
Wipe clean with a moist cloth, with or without using hand soap. Do not use rinse. Do not use brushes or any other abrasive surface to clean as this can damage the twine, velvet, and feathers.
